Is there a price to pay for scrapping or will some gypsys take it of your hands for free? or can you even get a profit from selling a rolling shell?
Advice and thoughts?
Kindest Regards

Hi
Check with your local breakers yard. They are not just in the business of selling parts. They eventually crush the remainder of the car and sell it on by weight of the metal contained.
If the car can still be moved, (On wheels) you should be able to find a breakers that will collect, winch it onto their flat bed and take it off your hands and pay you for the estimated scrap. I recently sold an old Volvo V40, (MOT failed basket case). I just used yellow pages and phoned a few scrap dealers. The guy that bought it came 20 miles to collect it and paid me £150 for the privilege. I would guess on that basis that if you have already removed a lot of the goodies from your MX5 it may only realise around £50,
but it’s certainly worth a few phone calls. If you’re on a student budget, that will buy a whole lot of baked beans.

Good luck with it

Thanks very much il give them a try, the volvo was probably about 7 tonnes of scrap metal to be fair . If I can get away with paying nothing il be more then happy.
Most of the goodies are gone but still plenty more up on fleabay.
Scrap metal dealers give a price per kilo for scrap metals, and some will come and collect last series mof the Apprentice demonstrated this, scrap dealer turned up with a wagon and scales!)
yellow pages and phone will do the trick.
Around here we have a number of “tattwers” that come around and take your metal - scrap or not, if it’s left lying around!
If you can get hold of a plasma torch or Stijl saw, just chop it up! I did that with my old 106 GTI after I’d finished stripping it, got £110 for the metal after taking it to a scrap dealer i a camping trailer
Fair play! yer thanks for your replies. Il get on the phone and find a MASSIVE cutting device either way.
Cut it up into small enough bits and you could gradually get rid of it in your normal household waste or aluminium can recycling over time
Seems easier just to call a scrapper to come and collect it. What will be left of the shell will be more than steel; there will be plastics, some oil, and other substances. A licenced scrap yard will have in place processes to properly take care of the residual parts, in a responsible manner.

As long as it’s
free and it doesn’t necessarily have to be a rolling shell, im happy.
Cut it up into even smaller bits and drop them out of your trouser legs when the guards aren’t watching!
I hear the best thing to do to get rid of a body is to cut it up into 6 parts, remove the baby-teeth and mohair for the sake of the piggies digestive systems and then pile them all together to make it easier to carry. see here
