The Learjet is finally ending production this year after almost 58 years… Mentioned in the Pink Floyd song “Money” “I’m in the high-fidelity first class travelling set I think I need a Learjet”
Here is a pic of a 1967 Learjet 25…
How jolly inconvenient.
What do I replace it with now?
A “sign o the times” (as mentioned by Prince )
One of the first - I remember as a kid in the 70’s having a metal toy one - great shape, but the market has expanded and more competition these days, but I presume there is nobody buying them at the moment…
Allegedly based on a Swiss fighter but isn’t it rather large for that???
…damn,…will have to cancel my order now…might try a helicopter instead…
Surely Elon must have a suitable replacement up his sleeve ?
That’s interesting. Wikipedia agrees with you and says it was this one: FFA P-16 - Wikipedia
My first thought was “that looks like a Hunter” and indeed when the Swiss binned the project they bought Hunters instead.
PS The first Learjet model was actually a bit smaller than the P-16.
Very different engine configuration.
In the fighter prototype, the fuselage is taken up by what appears to be twin intakes into a single engine, whereas the passenger version has twin engine pods, one either side of the tailplane, freeing up the fuselage for passengers.
Oh well it will have to be the Citation Longitude now then
At least it’s success and the designers subsequent delusional self-importance, gave him the opportunity to name his daughter Crystal Shanda.
Hahahah that’s brilliant and terrible in equal measure. I don’t think it’s cool for people to saddle their children with “fun” names but at least she needn’t tell people her middle name.
Came here to say this - at least it wasn’t Venetian Gonda…
Sounds like a posh S.T.D. only available from the more artisan sort of…erm…“lady”.
