I’m creating this thread to give everyone a place to obtain opinions on bits they might like to buy for their car, from people who actually own them.
Please refrain from passing judgement on people’s buying choices unless you also own whatever it is we are discussing.
Edit to add: I’d hope that I don’t need to say this, but please don’t take it personally if nobody replies to a post. It may just be that nobody else has tried whatever it is you’re interested in buying. You might want to leave it a week, and then bump your post, just in case it’s been missed.
Also, did anybody else notice the “Part 1” in the title? Optimistic or what?! hahaha
I have put that on another car and I like the look of it.
Be aware though that the tape will barely hold it on for you while you attach proper fixings! No way will it hold the strip on as the sole means of support. I put lots of screws in to hold it on with big washers, particularly on the front which takes a lot of wind pressure. I ended up taking it off the front as the car was quite low and it kept occasionally catching on the floor but still have it on the back and sides.
Its your car, dont worry what others think, if you fancy it, go for it!
I’m looking at GT Boot spoilers, however I don’t want anything too big or obnoxious. I’ve found one, which I’m linking below, but if you have any suggestions for alternatives, I’d appreciate it. I like the fact that the one linked is glossy black, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
I thought as much about it fitting well on the front with the dubious looking red imitation 3m tape which, if it was 3m tape it would probably stick…I’ll have a good think about it
But… do I then also need to get the side skirts and back diffuser to make it look complete ? or when I only install this it also looks good or will it look like something is missing ?
You would need to be sure you will like it as if you change your mind, you will need to sell it with your bootlid!
I see that the description says it is designed to fit many sedans so I doubt one has ever been near an ND! There is no guarantee of how the angle of the spoiler will be on your car so could look odd, particularly if the angle looks like it causes lift rather than downforce.
Drilling a bootlid is scary as there is little room for error. You are also drilling into an aluminium lid so would need very wide reinforcement underneath to stop it pulling through the metal.
If you go for this style, I would suggest its better to buy one that is definitely designed for the car and that you have seen in person.
