At the moment i have a W800 cafe, but my favourite bike was my ZX9r f2, i rode this bike all year round and put just under 100,000 miles on it,dont let anyone ever tell you Kawasakis cant do the miles. The only thing i had replaced was the clutch at 80,000 miles
. When i dream of riding, the f2 is the one im on.
Glad you’re on a green.
At one point i was searching for an f2 but fate had other plans for me .

Art on the entrance to the corner that you’ve brilliantly photographed you’ll notice a white arrow painted just before the wall begins.
Thats the optimum entry point, for bikes, not sure what would happen in cars mind ![]()
Thanks for the tip Holly, I was just glad Madge made it in and out of the dip without bottoming out
That is me at the wheel photo by touriphotos, racetracker.de ![]()
Brilliant picture, and i love the name madge excellent ![]()

Hello @Holly1 welcome and that’s a great looking MX-5. Red ones are always faster you know. ![]()
I gave up my bike a couple of years ago and bought an NC which I share with my better half. So much fun and so easy to get the top down (on the car) at the first sign of a gap in the rain. Not having to spend 10 minutes getting all the biking gear on and off every time the weather changes is a bonus too.
Yes just leap in and away you go, really impressed with the roof design, gold star for that particular designer, under five seconds and i dont even have to take the seat belt off,so no excuse at all.
I cant find anything to whine about, insurance the same as a litre class sportsbike, servicing cheaper, fuel costs about the same. Lovely to look at, this MX5 is really begining to grow on me.
Bit rubbish filtering ![]()
I did consider other colours but really, who doesnt want a little red sports car…
Im not going to share it with anyone, my other half has got her own car.
As ive been driving mostly in the wet recently, its highlighted the rubbish tyres i have installed…
I have no idea about car tyres,on bikes i generally go for michelin pilot roads or avon storms.
Im clueless, what i need is rapid warm up (road) hold their heat, good wet and dry weather performance, and some semblance of longevity, i hope to get more than 7,000 miles out of them and i wont have to worry about squaring them off…
So im looking at michelin pilot sports zr rated.
Or
Avons
This is just habit…
Or if anyone has good things to say about any other brands,im open to ideas.
Or tyres to avoid, like i dislike dunlops from personal experience on bikes, where they lost traction in the dry under heavy braking. The mere mention of them sends me into a cold sweat.
I know everyone has their own personal opinion on tyres, but if youve purchased the same brand twice, id love to hear from you. ![]()
Does anyone go on European trips i love the pyranees, steak and san miguel, ideal twisty roads great campsites, or do you all just stick to meets in this country .
My experience of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (now 5) has been excellent so can recommend them but in 215/45 which are a better fit on 7" rims and slightly cheaper.
Kumho Ecsta PS71 is my preferred brand. Had them on both my NC’s and have a set on my daily driver. In fact I’ll probably need a set of tyres on the current NC some time this year, I’m sticking with the same.![]()
They’ll certainly give you more than 7k miles in normal use.![]()
Hi, did any of the bikers who swapped from bikes to a 5 consider a trike, such as the Can Am F3? I know a lot of people consider them the worst of both cars and bikes but I’m intrigued enough to get a test drive once the weather cheers up ( could be a long wait!).
These would be my prefered choice, thank you, i take it you use them on road and track?
Which means they’ll be good for twisty mountain roads also ![]()

Interesting, ive just googled these and they get excellent reviews, ive never heard of them before today.
Yes, ive ridden a trike, h#nda make the best gold wing derived machine, not ridden one of those because of religious reasons i cant touch a hon#da.
They are, comfortable, and fun,but the worst of both worlds, is a good statement.
Great for a different kind of trip to sunny climes but over twenty grand… You have to be an enthusiast.
Have you looked at the ktm crossbow…
I agree with Mick regarding the PS71. It seems this is all my car ever had, when looking at previous owners receipts.
Now on 108,000 miles, with over 10,000 miles on the current set, I am more than happy with the grip and wear rate on my NC.
The price is good too. I tend to use Blackcircles.com.
Thanks for the link, ive found the tyres on it at the moment… Mmm nil points acceluranus, no wonder, im getting minimal feedback from them… Whats the point in having a fine piece of machinery, 190 exhaust, upgraded brakes and totally shite tyres. Ill leave them on until pay day then ill put on a decent set…
I notice they are Bridgestones, enough said.
Probably also past their sell by date too.![]()
Probably put on to get through an mot ,never mind i cant complain, its the only thing that the previous owner skimped on.
Decent set of tyres will see the best from the car ![]()
They fitted them from factory on most NC’s, probably ND’s too, not 100% sure on that one.
They are ok but go off pretty quick and harsh. Had a set from new on my daily driver, a SEAT as that’s what it left the factory with. I stayed with them for six years, why, well it’s not really a high miler, managed just 30k miles in 9 years.
