The MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition officially spotted today!

"Mazda Motor Corporation announced today that the Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition will have its world premiere at the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, which opens to the public on 9th February 2019.

The Mazda MX-5 made its debut at the Chicago Motor Show in 1989 and to celebrate its 30th anniversary a special edition has been created in appreciation of the customers all over the world who have supported the success of the model over the last three decades"

What do all reckon to this then?

Looks like it’s to be a ‘RF’…

Sack the photographer.

Out of shot before the camera shutter opened. So that’s a turbo.

Smoke from a red flare?  Flash in the pan so to speak!

A bit out of focus perhaps

I predict that at the national this year a 30AE will be sat next to a LeMans24 and they will match.

Obviously an RF shape to the roofline, but the colour is interesting - more orange than red.

Could we be seeing the return of some brighter colours?

Will be a great shame if the 30AE is RF only. Hardcore MX-5 enthusiasts tend to go for soft tops. The RF is broadly aimed at getting the wider buying public into the MX-5.

well I reckon it could be one of these in the photo, a bright orange Mirafiori Sport, just like I had back in the day…

(ps this is not mine, mine had a lot a orange rust as well!)

That must be one of the extremely rare ones with a fibreglass body

Remember the TV ad for the Mirafiori? It featured Graham Hill and he really couldn’t pronounce the name.

Big mistake again Mazda…despite being orange

RF’s are not selling so you try with this?

Disappointment!!

Is it a remake of the Tango advert? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhOeG-uTJxw) , or was this the photographers response to “take it from the most flattering angle”. I’m currently on lookout for 2.0 NC PEFH as the RF doesn’t float my boat.

They got this to blast through the car park.

ZOOM ZOOM… or what

lovely, the world really does need more orange cars…

I’ve had a think and have decided it’s definitely a multi-storey concrete car park. It’s construction and design layout I’m not really sure about but it does look a most fine piece of modern day architecture. As regards the orangey smudge that seems to be moving from right to left, I haven’t got a clue! This image could perhaps be considered by Iain Fleming for next years MX5 OC Calendar?

I thought it was one of these!
