The New 4th Generation MX-5 picture and feedback thread.

Take the badges off and you would be hard pressed to see a linage back to the Mk1

that may be the photos!  the official ones I posted keep resizing in the window so Iā€™ve made them smaller to get the proportions back.

Ugly drooping front and an over sized bumĀ F type rear lights and a very busy centre consoleā€¦Mazda could have done a whole lot better

I like it. It certainly doesnā€™t have the retro cool of the MK1, but then neither does the MK3

And the interior looks good. I even like the pop up screen.

I like it, its a bit quirky, (the RX8 was quirky as well but didnā€™t really like that) it looks lighter and more agile in its stance than a MK3. It looks smaller as wellā€¦ I will give it 8.5 out of 10ā€¦ and apparently better in the flashā€¦ so, hoping to see it very soonā€¦Ā

keep looking at the front and seeing an updated take on a Mitsubishi FTO

Not for meĀ

i like it quite a lot.
side shot - beautiful
front shot - purposeful droop is good
back side - still unsure but it works ok

hope the stupid ugly pop up screen thingy can be dropped during driving if sat nav is not required. i think it spoils the dash line.
why are there 2 cupholders between the seat backs where it is impossible for a large american to get his arm round there?Ā

overall - 9/10 well done Mazda

I like it, but still no details on engines yet :frowning:

Whatever we all think now,it will sell in huge numbers.
I reckon it will look better in the metal, rather than pics.
So much of it is clearly MX5 .

A J.

Ā from me, possibly enough to consider an early purchase if the driving dynamics pay off with the chassis/engine layout and power to weight ratio. I think 16" wheels will be good too, the 17"s on the NC donā€™t have the same feel/feedback as smaller ones as used on the NA/NB, Autocarā€™s picture set is good.

It looks like a lift from Mazda3 (MZD connect, itā€™s more than just sat nav), in which case itā€™ll probably be static.

Itā€™s a growing trend for manufacturers to graft the in-car entertainment onto the top of the dash these days. Audiā€™s and Volvoā€™s tend to pop up but Mercā€™s A Class is just sitting there all the time too. Iā€™m not a fan of it, but could live with it.

Anybody know any confirmed dates for when I can order one?

I would be surprised if there was not a folding hard-top coming along, since most new sales of MX5s are folding hard-top.

Not sure why people are so keen on vulnerable fabric roofs that need usually need replacement before the car does!

Of course people will say the hood should be down, but as a daily driver this is unlikely and if I was to splash out Ā£20k - I would want to use it a lot.

I dare say an enterprising dealer will take a deposit now but donā€™t think you will be driving one until summer  autumn next year.

Iā€™d revise that to autumn

Interesting dial layout. Central large revcounter

I like it, a lot. In fact I may test drive one with a view to buy as soon as mazda have demonstrators.
