Throttle body + ISCV similarity?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NA 1.6_
  2. I’m based near: Sheffield __
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: ISCV

I am having ticker over problems, suspect the ISCV and seen the eye watering cost of a new unit. 1.6 throttle bodies seem rare but I’ve seen throttle bodies that include ISCV for 1.8. Would these work on my 1.6? Is it feasible to remove and strip my duff ISCV, I have the help of my son who is a race team mechanic.

Take a look at this.

D.

Thank you D that is extremely helpful and it is a substantial and comprehensive coverage of the whole subject. I downloaded it into Word and edited it for easier reading. Looks like it’s worth tinkering with my existing throttle body before buying a S/H unit of questionable function. I need to sit down and digest it all and then we will tackle it when any bits I may need have arrived. Taking it to Spain in 4 weeks so niggles like this need to be sorted.

Interesting. The comment at the end of the article mentions clogged coolant lines to the air valve being a cause of high CO. A common problem when trying to pass MOT.
