Thrussington Underseal pictures

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __nc2
  2. I’m based near: __grantham

i took my over to Thrussington MX5 specialist garage to be undersealed.
T pictures have finally arrived and though i have put them up on my project thread i think that mike and guys deserve a better shout out than a few pictures on the end of a long thread

so here are pictures

I was really surprised on seeing the next picture as I was not expecting them to do the rear bumper!
as it happens there is a rust spot on that rear bumper that most people miss.
it is between the bumper plate face and the car, so you don’t see it until you take the bumper beam off!

Thanks for the share. Can I ask what kind of money are we talking about? I want to keep my NC as rust free and possible and this could be a great addition

Yes thanks for the photos, looking good. Which products do they use?

The cost was £375, tho I think they have to add VAT on, not sure.
The product, I think is waxoyl and maybe hammerite.

however, if you give mike at Thrussington a call he can answer your questions for certain.

Please get those hubs rubbed down and painted?

don’t worry, there on my list of things to do!
:sunglasses:

Hi I really like the look of that could you please tell how much it cost I intend to keep my car for many years and doing this is far better than welding in the future.

Mick

the cost was 375 +vat.
thrussington garage is just off the A607 outside leister on the Melton Mowbray side

Many thanks I will give them a bell in the new year.

I had my NC 25AE done there a few weeks ago. They use Bilt Hamber products. It cost me £420 + VAT for the Underseal plus they give it a service too, total cost was just over £600, I was amazed how quickly it was done, just over 24hrs & it was ready to pick up! I don’t know what resources they threw at it but somehow I wish it had taken longer!!
But It looks a good job & I got pictures too.

hmm I wonder why the price difference?

maybe it was because I had a whole bucket load of other stuff done at the same time, my total cost was 800.

Bilt Hamber better than Waxoyl I suppose. No idea what Mike put on the bottom of mine, its like concrete.

Looks like a nice job that they did, I would be happy with that.

The guy I took it to did this below. it means there some underseal on the rear arch lips to try and avoid the paint there chipping from stone strikes, has worked so far after a year of use.

MX5US (30)

That looks like a very thorough job.

Apart from MX-5’s do they do other makes?

I wish i had done this/similar to my Suzuki Vitara when I bought it new, I was planning to trade in for a new car at 3 years old, however the pandemic and job securtiy in my industry has put me off any major purchases for a while so preserving what I already own has become more important now.

Thrussington is about 15 miles/28 mins away , so maybe just the place for my next NC service & MOT ?

there an mx5 specialist but they do other vehicles as well.

I let them overhaul the air suspension, ZF auto box service and 100k engine service on my Jag X350 (bill well into 4 figures). They now have their own gas analyser, which helps on emissions diagnostics. Mike Comber is a former Saab tech (and Ratcliffian old boy), but he now has a team of of mechanics.

Website has fixed price service costs.

Highly recommended, they did my NC very pleased.
