Tiger Moth Flight - for BIG-C

Don Sargant is a member of the MX-5 Owners Club, but doesn’t own a 5. Yet.

But he does own this…

It’s a 1940 DH Tiger Moth, which has just undergone a major restoration. Don has, most generously, offered us two flights to help raise money for BIG-C.!

One is a one-hour flight from Ludham over the Broads or round the coast, or a bit of a mixture. Don can also do aeros (loops rolls etc) if requested! This flight will be the prize in a competition which will be launched at the next meeting on the 15th July at Wreningham. Participation will cost £2.00 a time.

The second is the opportunity to be flown in to the Old Buckingham Air Show at the beginning of August from Ludham. This flight will be auctioned at the same meeting.

So, whatever you do, get down to The Bird In Hand next Wednesday, to be certain of your chance to enjoy one of these amazing flights!

Peter.

P.S. There are no age restrictions - you will be helped into, and out, of the aircraft. The only restriction is a maximum weight of 240lbs.

This is amazing. I will bring my wallet with me on Wednesday. After seeing one today at the Duxford Air Show I really want to go up in one.

I’m glad that you did bring your wallet Ian! That was a great bid - I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! Don will be in touch with you in the next few days. Well done!

Hi Peter,

Thank you so much from arranging this amazing offer for the club. It really is a dream come true for me to get the chance to fly in a Tiger Moth.

I rounded up my bid to £100 and donated to the just giving page.

Thanks again.

For those who didn’t see the video of the draw on the Norfolk Fives Facebook page, the draw was made on the 1st August at BIG-C’s shop in Wymondham.

The winning ticket was number 36, and the winner was Maurice Lince from Mulbarton.

Thanks to all those who bought tickets - we raised £178! That’s in addition to the £100 for the flight to Old Buckenham.

And many thanks to Don for giving us this opportunity.

Peter

Thanks to Peter for organising and Don for his generosity. It was an amazing flight, taking off from Ludham, amazing views on the way to Acle to fly over my dad’s house, then off to Great Yarmouth to fly over my mums house, then over the coast and across to Dunston Hall and a flyby at Old Buck before coming into land.

It was a truly amazing experience. And the best way to arrive at the Old Buckingham Air Show.

Here are a few pictures for you. I had to get a few shots of the Five with the Moth.
