time to say goodbye after 17 years

hello everyone ,

i purchased my red mark 1 mx5 in june 91 while i was still young and single .

For two years  i spent an amazing time  buzzing around the roads getting envious  stares wherever i drove .

then … marriage…we continued to  “share” my mx  until the  inevitable happened and we now needed 3 seats!

when we buy a little runaround, i realised my  relationship with my little mx  was going to change drastically .

good job we had a large garage . she  sat in the  garage  under covers  and now and again my wife  would saythings  like

"dont you think you should sell the  mazda " … to which i would reply …eh, no im still going to drive her!

one more child and a further nail in my little cars  coffin .As my boys grew  they asked about the  little red car in the    garage and begged dad to take them for a spin .dad  willingly obliged and  tried to justify the  cost of having 3 cars  on the  road .not possible .

so there  she  sat polished ,loved but , wanting more from me than an occasional sunday afternoon drive .

in 2003  my marriage broke and my wife  “gave” me  my car as part of the  settlement .

a new home  and a new garage …here  she sits …still unused

time  to say goodbye and accpt that she  needs someone  who will cherish and care for her like i did in those first few years .

her c.v reads  like this  H registered…one lover from new… just over 35thousand miles of pleasure in 17years …wheels and tyres  gleaming like new  bodywork as bright and clean as the  day she  left the  showroom …the day i fell in love

will anybody give her a good home?

James,

Sorry to hear your woes mate…your in the right place for sympathy!

Pop some pictures on here, a little more info (extras?) and I’m sure she’ll go in no time at all, and if to anyone on this forum, to a loving home too. Only 35k…thats a dream car for someone.

Best of luck mate.

Jon

thanks  jon , yes ive finally got to face facts and let my love go.

car has no extras(dont think there were any options in 91) the  only upgrade  was an alpine stereo cassete. last mot was about two years  ago and  about 3 years before that .mot station was amazed at condition when i had her put through. i need to get a new battery and a current mot (il also put her through a service ) and then we will be ready to say goodbye  forever

. i will get my camera out , but as you know unless you see in flesh , the  camera  will just show an overview.
