TIRE Sealant

  1. My model of MX-5 is: Mk3
  2. I’m based near: Southend-on-Sea__
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Mazda Tyre Sealant (TRK)
I have purchased a 2007 Mk3 and have discovered that the sealant expiry is 29.04.19,
MX-5 parts, show a bottle of sealant similar to the one that has expired. I however did see in the forum notes that somewhat said that the new bottles do not fit the puncture kit bag.
Is this is true, what experience’s have other members had, if any with this product.

The Mazda sealant has a reputation for not working so yes, Tyre Weld or a spacesaver (the Hyundai Coupe one fits). If you carry a spacesaver and puncture in the rain, your passenger will not enjoy the ride to the nearest tyre shop, as they’ll have a wet full-size wheel in their lap.

Pack a ratchet strap in the bag with the space saver. Wrap the strap around the flat tyre and squeeze it down. It now fits in the boot

I carry something similar to this POWERMAG HEAVY DUTY MOTORCYCLE CAR VAN TUBELESS TYRE PUNCTURE REPAIR KITS TIRE TOOLS EMERGENCY : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive in our ND.

I am happy to confirm that it did work and managed to cover a few hundred miles using it. I kept the speed down as it is only a ‘get you home’ solution. The tyre was still in a repairable state as well.

I carry a tyre plug and go, (seen it worked well several times).
A Tyre Doctor repair kit, (good reviews). Used similar before and got back home from France with it.
X2 tins of Holts Tyre weld, (does work but make sure the tyre is fully deflated before putting in and then re inflating).
I also have Goop in every tyre!
Sad yes, but the Holts tyre weld did the job on a mates BMW bike last year abroad.

Yes, the replacement tyre sealant bottles tend to be a different size to the factory ones so aren’t a great fit in the bag. If it were me though, I’d leave the old one in there for originality and either carry the replacement separately or use one of the other suggestions above.
