Hope someone can give me a definitive answer as I’ve searched around and can’t find what I was hoping to.
I have a NA eunos in British racing green (or whatever its actually called), paint code HU. I’ve recently had some welding done so need to respray some panels to protect them until I can get a full resray done (may be years away).
I got some paint in a rattle can from my local paint suppliers (very expensive it was too!) and they categorically stated “you need lacquer for that, all cars have a clear coat”. Now I know that is not actually true, so I merrily went ahead and sprayed the rear wing. The paint they supplied most definitely did need lacquer, I had some anyway so put some on. (it looks terrible but thats a different story).
I then ran out of paint, so went to paints4u website to order some more (not being impressed with my local suppliers product or price) and it asks if you want base coat (needs lacquer) or cellulose (doesn’t need lacquer).
Can anyone confirm for sure if a BRG eunos would have lacquer from the factory? The way it has faded, and the way green comes off on a polishing cloth would suggest it doesn’t…
Or maybe it doesn’t matter either way?
Thanks!
