- My model of MX-5 is: 2012 NC Venture
- I’m based near: Blackpool
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Head Unit Replacement
Hello
I currently have a 2012 NC which came from the factory with a double DIN headunit, which I believe is what came with the car from the factory.
I would like to replace the current head unit with one that has Android Auto. I think I know what cables I’ll need (linked below, if something doesn’t look right, please point it out!), but I’m unsure about the facia.
Will I need to buy a replacement facia? It seems like the stock one is close to, if not an actual double DIN facia. I don’t want to buy a new facia to only find out I didn’t need one in the first place.
Has anyone done a similar swap to what I have planned?
If anyone has any recommendations on an actual head unit, I’d also appreciate that. Really my major requirement is that it has Android Auto, but DAB and physical buttons would be bonuses.
I understand some people on the forums have had problems with some of the cheaper Sony head units (unrelated to the car, they’re just unreliable), so I may give them a miss. I also understand I have to replace the aerial in order to receive DAB. I’ve linked one below that I’ve seen recommended here. Saying that, if a windscreen aerial isn’t too obtrusive, I may save my pennies and go for that.
Any and all help and guidance is appreciated.
