At the awards lunch for the 2013 SBD HSA Speed Championship on December 8th in the Prescott Clubhouse, Tony Thomas, from the Northamptonshire Area, received the MX5OC trophy for the second year running by winning the popular MX5 class in his 2.0 MK3.
Tony faced a stiffer challenge than in 2012 and only finished one point ahead of runner up, Nigel Hodson in his 1.8 MK2 with Ken Morris a little further back in third place in his 1.8 MK 1 Merlot. 2013 was another successful year for the class with no less than fourteen MX5 competitors scoring points.
In 2013 the MX5 Class for ‘standard’ cars (only limited modifications are permitted and the cars must be taxed, insured and MOT’d) was far and away the most popular in the Championship with 15 cars entered.
Registration for the 2014 Championship has just opened here and the HSA looks forward to welcoming newcomers alongside returning competitors.
