Top Gear (20-Nov-22)

Really interesting (much MX-5 content) episode aired last night. Heartily recommend watching it.

It was a good episode.

I really felt for the two drivers, talk about being thrown in at the deep end, even with several weeks training, and some limited racing experience before. It was all quite tense, but good to see TG doing something other than just pratting about as most weeks.

I agree. I was particularly impressed when one of drivers realised that he needed a bit of a reset to get a handle on the McLaren. Takes a lot of personal courage to recognise and admit when it’s you that has to step back to step up.

I thought that was a big jump from MX5 to GT3 McLaren! Even though it was a race prepped MX5 the Mac would have fairly serious aero which makes a huge difference that you just wouldn’t get to experience in the MX5.

Totally agree with the comments thus far on this thread. I certainly learnt a lot about how the experts train their drivers and the two guys in question were excellent.

I too think it took a lot of courage for one of the drivers, having a bit of a reset, once he had been out in the Maclaren and his focus and calmness paid off in the end👍

I gave up on TG years ago as it was a car programme targeted at people who weren’t interested in cars , let alone club motorsport . But this was excellent , and I especially enjoyed the Cadwell section ,my favourite circuit and where I’d been only a few weeks ago as a steward .

Good stuff-more please .

Well yes, Cadwell Park is quite a challenge to have your first proper race on!

Very enjoyable edition of Top Gear.
