Topless Bride !!

So having caught your attention with my title. Perhaps you can help with a few related problems…

Our daughter’s friend would like us to take her to her wedding in one of the 5’s - with the top down. Which of course we are happy to do.

How can I attach a wedding ribbon to the car ?- I am thinking it might be workable to attach to the sun visors? has anyone done this?

I don’t understand it  myself- surely the bride would have just done her hair and make up etc and will not want a gale force breeze mucking up her beautified hair … I have visions of a puff of white voile quished into the passenger seat and a veil flying off behind me…

A word of warning about putting ribbon on the car.

We put some on our new Mazda 2  for our daughters wedding last month and was horrified to see it had marked the Lacquer/paint (not sure which)

Luckily our friendly local Mazda dealer mopped it for us as it looked a right mess.

I,ve done it on an old car, but to stop the paint getting damaged I put a single layer of cling film underneath the ribbon where it touch the paint.

Agree with the above. Wedding ribbons seem to be quite abrasive when fluttering at speed. It marked my paint when I had some on mine but it polished out ok. It may be possible to make a small upstand bracket that hooks onto the slam panel to raise the ribbons off of the bonnet, but depends if you want to go to the bother. The cling film idea sounds good.

I’m gonna have to keep this in mind as my daughter has asked me to take her in the five at her wedding too

Me too as I’m planning on using my Roadster as the wedding car for my own wedding next yearBig Smile!!!

Well congratulations. It’s gotta be done Thumbs up

I used my Sport for my daughters wedding a few years back. Ribbons attached to the sunvisors & no paintwork damage. It helped that one of the bridesmaids was a hairdresser though so no bad hair day!

While we`re on the subject look what the buggers did to my MGB when Mrs BRG & i got married 34 years ago Shock

The emulsion white wall tyres took some cleaning Cry

Yikes Dave ! I can’t say I would have been that good natured about what they did at your wedding!

When you did your daughters wedding - it looks like the ribbon was lying flat on the bonnett- may be that helped to protect it ! and you said you tied it to the sun visors - did you keep the windows up ? that may have helped to keep it flat too…??

Yep windows up & windblocker up i seem to recall

Thanks. Original plan was a 900cc Kawasaki but the future missus didn’t fancy leaving the registry office in a 0-60mph time of under 3 seconds.Cry

So the Mazda it is then!!!Big Smile

Taking on all the tips, better get a windblocker and hide the paint from friends.

(I’d have been up for murder if that had been my MGB!!!).

Martin.
