a match to the material. Any suggestions anyone? (Coventry)

That’ll be a Mk3.5 and guessing cloth not leather.

Afraid I can’t help and can only suggest maybe a call/visit to Sam Goodwin, he’s an MX-5 specialist in Warwickshire could suggest a place if he can’t. Failing that change the whole seat for a good SH one but usually they lik eto sell the pair.
I know the last time I visited P M sports cars in Shardlow in South Derbyshire (MX-5 breaker) he had quite a few seats sitting on the shelves, cloth too.
Try Mazda. Replacement cloth covers for the NC aren’t as expensive as you might think, and cheaper than a used seat.
