Touch Screen Navigation/Entertainment unit has stopped working

John Burgess Club Member

2014 Mazda MX-5 (2.0-litre Sport Tech Nav Roadster).

The touch screen unit has stopped working. Screen blank unable to access Nav/Radio/CD.

I would be very grateful for any assistance.

Thank you

John

Hi John,
Just seeing if I can help.
Is it the Mazda NVA-SD8110 with Tom Tom maps?
(That is what I have).
I take it nothing boots up when power is applied?
In which case (No offence), have you checked the 7.5 amp fuse which also controls the power mirror.
It’s the top fuse in the little compartment passenger side footwell.
Other than that, it’s probably a phone call to your Mazda dealer.
Or good Audio specialist.
(I just tried putting the washing machine on and wouldn’t work because I didn’t shut the door properly ).

If it’s a 2014, it might also be the Alpine AVN2 unit.

If so, then try removing the button panel on the left hand side and use a pin or similar to press the reset button.

Many thanks for your prompt reply I will check the fuse.

I tend to load the washing machine and either forget to turn it on or omit the washing liquid.

Have a safe day.

John

Any news at all on the fix?

I checked the fuse and tried the reset on the unit but its a no go.

Looks like it will be a dealer job.

I read a thread some where else (can’t remember now), but a possible reset is to hold the on/off button and turn the ignition on (so it would normally power up) then continue to hold the on/off button for 30 seconds.
If it works it works I suppose.

I will give it a try.

I appreciate your help with this issue.

I will keep you updated.

John

It’s so poor anyway, time (and opportunity) to consider a more up to date unit. Perhaps one with Car Play?
