Toyo or Yokohama

I’m thinking of getting some new tyres this week for my newly acquired Watanabe’s.  The wheel size is 15"x7" and I can’t make my mind up between Toyo T1R or the Yokohama Prada 2.

Any opinions are appreciated.

Cheers

Marcus

I just bought a set of 15" Toyo T1R on ebay for £122.99
Paradas are about same price though

They are both good tyres apparently but I just like the name Toyo more[:)]

I have Toyo’s. Impressed with level of grip.

Mine are Proxes 4’s though, to add even more to your dilema!

I have the Toyo T1Rs on 15 and 16 inch wheels and I like them.  You won’t go wrong if you go for those, but other tyres are available… [:)]

“corrected to T1R.>!”

For general use the Yoko or the T1R are great tyres.

If you want to do any track work… the T1R’s are better

Thank you for your replies so far, also am I right in thinking the correct tyre size if using 15" wheels is 195/50/15?

Cheers

Marcus

depends on what wheels you have really but should be correct

best to check on your existing tyres, it is written on the side

He said the wheels were 15x7, so yes, 195/50R15 are perfect.

Hi thanks for that, I wanted to make sure that the tyres on my old 15" wheels were of the right size as they were on the car when I bought it and I didn’t want to have the same size fitted to the Wats if they were going to be wrong, so sorted on the tyre size.

Many thanks.

Marcus

Goodyear F1 GSD 3 are the tyre of choice IMHO[;)]

There is now a Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric tyre (I’ve got 2 on my Audi now), nothing like the GSD 2 or GSD 3,   I wonder if its going to replace the GSD3 in time, as they have been getting harder to find… ?

I’ve been thinking about getting new wheels/tyres in this combo because I’m on the stock minilite 14" wheels.

I appreciate that 14 might be harder to find good tyres but is it widely accepted that 15x7 is the best size for handling and significantly better than the 14?

The Yokohama Prada 2 I’m told has great dry weather grip (with 99% of my driving being in the dry weather) but not very good in the wet?  I’ve no intension of doing trackdays with my car just the fair weather drives out.  The Toyo T1R from want I can make out is more of an all rounder, but I do like the tread pattern of the Prada 2, decisions, decisions!!

[:^)][:^)][:^)][:^)][:^)][:^)][:^)][:^)][:^)]

I just received my new tyres today, I bought 4 x 15" Toyo T1R’s off ebay but they have sent me 4 x 15" Yokohama Parada 2, they must have sent the wrong set by mistake
Oh well I will give the Parada a try as I agree the thread looks cool! they cant be bad anyway

If you don’t do track days then both sets will be fine I guess

Any feedback on the Yokos pleased?

If the majority of your driving is dry weather, I’d go with the Yokos.

For me its a mix as I live up North

No not as yet, I haven’t bought my tyres due to other commitments at the moment, but I’m still undecided which to go for when I do[8-)]

I found a review site which may help you http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/

I think I am going the route of Toyo, it seems they are a better all round tyre and a bit more progressive and I don’t like having road tyres that give you ultimate grip but no warning when they let go
