Toyo Proxes t1r

Just wanted to say that my new set of Proxes really transform the look of my mk2.5. GREAT LOOKING RUBBER!

When I put them on my 2.5 sport after wearing out the original Turanzas I also found the ride was a lot better as well.  Far less harsh, and with a lot more feedback when pushing through the corners…

Agreed. Pretty much the default tyre for a 2.5 Sport.

Getting long in the tooth as other tyres catch up, but as long as they are available I’ll “stick” to them.Wink

You might want to experiment with an extra 2PSI to 28 PSI. A common tweak as they have very soft sidewalls.

Tightens up turn in and responsiveness but not enough for a harsh ride.

Have T1R’s on the Puma, in the same size as the Mk2.5, can really recommend them too !

yep, I always run mine at higher pressure, at least 28 or a bit more sometimes, depending on what sort of driving I am doing…

This may seem somewhat obtuse since it is about T1R’s. It is a popular tyre and has an almost slavish following across many car club forums and if you like it that is fine. However I would advise there are better performing tyres out there for similar and in some instances a fair bit less money. In 195 50 15 the Kumho KH31 and Hankook K110 can be had for less money and will offer better grip and life and in the 205 45 16 the Kumho KU39 will offer better grip and wet performance at significantly lower price.

I would have gone for the KH51’s but couldn’t get them when I needed them (sorry NickD). Still, I got the T1R’s for a good price (£150 for 4 plus £15 delivery) and they were fitted after my wheels were refurbished.

yes Nick, but we also like the pattern on the Toyo, its a bit like the old Eagle F1, and looks dead cool… Thumbs up

Carry on polishing Martin Wink

You didn’t ask the right person then.
