TPMS normal pressures

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ND MY23 2.0 Exclusive Line
  2. I’m based near: __High Wycombe
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __TPMS

So the car has metal tyre valves and I can see tyre pressures in the ODB data so I guess the type of TPMS is where the pressures are transmitted from each valve. But there seems to be no ’ reset’ button to calibrate the TPMS. Is ‘normal’ tyre pressure for the TPMS factory set?

Normal pressure is 29psi

on the later cars (from 2018) they use TPMS sensors and they auto calibrate so no reset button like the earlier cars that used the ABS sensors…

So if I chose (which I haven’t) to run the tyres at higher or lower pressures, the TPMS would assume they should be at 29psi and issue warnings based on that, right?

Its my understand that they detect a difference in pressure, so for example if you ran them all at 35psi you would be fine (not that id recommend that lol)

Cold weather can play havoc with tyre pressures - my tyre pressure warning on the 2016 ND is very sensitive! I guess it’s an ABS one. Luckily I have a small, proper air mate compressor in the garage.

Couple of times I’ve had to pull over to check if I had a flat - even though I could feel nothing through the steering - lights do alarm me - yeah I know they’re supposed to! :sunglasses:
