TPMS - Thinking out loud

Just wondering if anyone has come up with a neat TPMS solution for cars which don’t have it, such as my NC1.
There is a multitude of near-identical units on eBay for 15 quid upwards which appear to have the sensing element in a modified dust-cap. I would shy away from these as looks to me it introduces additional points of possible failure.
I’d be looking for reputable internal TPMS senders (to be fitted at tyre replacement time as wheels would need to be re-balanced anyway) and a discreet display which could be mounted somewhere around the dash.
It looks like most TPMS systems are manufacturer specific (frequency and signal protocol) and there’s no universal receiver apart from diagnostic kit at a high price. There are some available on eBay et al which look promising at first sight but appear to have a strange valve fitment, and poor reviews.
So in summary, has anyone come across a reasonably priced after-market TPMS with internal sensors which would fit our cars?

When I had my Mazda RX8 I used a company called orange and there units the worked very well in fact the left hand rear tyre blew but gave me enough time to react when the tyre deflated they have now up dated there products since then… and the read out monitor is a lot better….

Orange P429 TPMS OTO Wireless Car-Locate Tire Pressure Monitoring System 74 Psi

It’s a little pricey but do as search with the above in google you might get the price down

Made my own roof console to mount the devise

And this is the 4-5 seconds tyre alert to give me time to respond

It could have been a lot worse I had low profile run flat tyres fitted

Thank you, that looks interesting.
They do a later model, P451 black which is slightly more compact but as you say, quite pricy.
Also they only appear to sell direct, shipped from Taiwan. But good to know the ordering process does work as you have one.

If you do Order you might also get hit with import tax and further shipping cost I did mine through PayPal so you are protected if they say the item has been shipped and it dose not turn up,… but I have ordered 3 times from them direct never had a problem I fitted a system in my wife’s wheels/car and my neighbours MX-5 over the road with out a problem …….!

‘TyrePal’ TPMS are very widely used by motorhome owners and caravanners, and are UK based.

We have had their ‘valve cap’ style one with the solar powered display on our camper van for the last 6 years and it functions very, very well. I’ve replaced the pressure sensor batteries once in that time, and have never needed to charge the display (it just sits on a pad on the dash without any wiring needed).

They do a range of sensors (including internal ones) and displays.

I bought some generic TPMS system (also with ‘valve cap’ sensors) to link to the android head unit in my MX-5. The system functions, but the readings seem very ‘clunky’ and seem to jump by several PSI at a time. Nowhere near as reassuring as the TyrePal system.

I would recommend the TyrePal system (no connections, etc.) They do have occasional special offers if you want keep an eye on them.
