Transmission Cover Plate ND

  1. My model of MX-5 is: ND
  2. I’m based near: Newbury
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Transmission Plate

Just been clearing the sill drains on the car after spraying with wax protection and found something hanging down under the car. Seems from what is left is a black thermal type pad , which is melted and hanging out underneath. I thought I saw something under the car when I bought it , but didnt notice it when I picked it up. It was serviced before collection, so wonder if the garage tucked it back up on the plate. I pulled it off now and is only a small section of the pad I have found on the net. I take it the BBR manifold maybe a culprit for the demise. Question is , is it needed at all or will we be fine to lighten the car a bit more
It looks like this : MX-5 Transmission Cover
Where the recessed line is in the black material, near the oval slots, I have the smaller section, on my bench and about 3/4 of that piece, as the rest has melted.
I also found that the original primary cat had a clip mounted to the engine mount on a steel bracket, which was now obsolete with the BBR manifold and lambda relocation. The clip was still there and half melted. I have removed it when I found it. So, 2 burnt bits on the car , although not smelt it.

Which plastic bit is it?

Its not plastic, its a material , as seen in the link on the second photo but only one part of it. I have taken a piccie and will put this up tonight, when at home , where I can host the piccie, so leaving you in suspense until then
Good news is that BBR have found info on my car and it did have a Super 190 kit put on it . Shame I got no history with the car but nice to find things out also.

Here is the part I pulled off last night. As can be seen, its melted at one end. I believe it was still attached as I pulled it away.

That looks like it came off the engine cover

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean the sump cover ?

Yes there is some material in there
