i want to turn engine over without it firing properly just to get the oil nicely circulating again before i do start the engine properly. read various posts on here and elsewhere. it seems i have to pull these things, just want to make sure this is enough and there is nothing else. i’ve never done this before so please excuse my over the top caution. if the order matters, please let me know.
am i right i don’t have to pull the other connecter going into the CAS at the back? also, when replacing the coil pack, i’ve seen someone pull the 3 pin and another connector here: i don’t have to pull the one with the yellow centre do i?
i can’t hold the throttle fully open before and during cranking to inhibit fuel injection, cos there’s only me doing it.
anything else i’ve missed?
i have to be honest i’m nervous about doing this for the first time: i just turn the key as normal, but what will happen? the engine will just start of turn over, but the car won’t start obviously.?
thanks! i forgot i have me diagram on the outside. ok thats that solved, as you say, i don’t need to pull any fuses inside. i’ll just tweak the question since that is solved. also, i found the post i mentioned before, from another forum, just gonna put it in here to show i wasn’t trippin. but we’ve established its the pink one.
If it’s been off the road for a long time, You could take the spark plugs out, then wd40 down the bores then turnover by hand to make sure it’s not seized (21mm socket on crank pulley) leaving the plugs out then crank the starter motor (along with pulling the fuel inj fuse).
yeah i should have said at the start, i’m doing engine oil change, so was gonna put some down the holes as well in any event. i did look into the manual cranking option. so you just put a 21mm on the front and start turning to the right? and thank you both for replies.
don’t wanna start a new topic for this, cos it’s related, do 9/16 square sockets for the filler plug on the transmission actually exist? i’ve been looking for ages, yet to find a square 9/16 socket, but have found spanners.
one last thing, as i’m putting new oil in the engine anyway, rather than pour most of it into the usual fill hole with a bit in each spark plug hole (thats what i calls em lol) should i basically put 1/5 of it in each spark plug hole and 1/5 of it in the regular fill hole? does it all go down to the same place? just wondered to ensure maximum lube.
I wouldn’t put any down the spark plug holes, personally (the engine will be fine). If you feel you must, then about half a teaspoon’s worth MAX in each one.
ahh thats something i definitely have. i wasnt sure about the .2875 mm lol.
i also have an adjustable wrench as a backup.
9/16 square is such a weird choice, i mean why not make it like the diff filler, in god ole mm.
