TV Star Car / Line of Duty

Polymetal Grey RF is the star of latest episode of “Line of Duty” . I was slightly worried what would happen to it, but --spoiler alert-- BBC budget couldn’t run to new tyres so even the stinger didn’t get a victim!

That did not take long!

Line of Duty plot hole: If, like DI Steve Arnott, I suffered from chronic back pain, a Mazda MX5 RF would be a fairly unlikely choice for my personal transport…

Orthopaedic seats in the big volvo might be better for the sore back.

It took between ten and fifteen minutes in each of the three different NDs I test drove to convince my arthritic back it was not the car for me. Seat adjustments etc made no difference.

The contrast to my NC is chalk and cheese, I can drive all day in comfort in the Niseko, no problem!

There was also the comment that Arnott is a DI now so should have a grown up car…

I was surprised that the script didn’t include such things as MX5 RF, ABS, EBD, IRS, IFS, BHP etc etc
:grinning:

It was a lovely car, just glad they didn’t crash it.:+1:

Also thought it must have been a cold night filming as they had the heated seats on.
So, unless DI Arnott leaves both on, they were in too much of a hurry to have to discussed putting the heat on!

All credit to professional stunt drivers.
Decent J turn etc.

Well, he’s kinda wee himself!

As seen on Line of Duty

And as advertised at Brindley Mazda…!

Would not touch the thing with a 10 foot barge pole.
Why would you when there are countless dozens ex PCP’s on forecourts across the Nation?
Nobody has a clue how many stunt-driver retakes it was subjected to.
Then…there’s potentially warranty issues under the get-out used & abused clauses?
Mental to me they did not add false plates…
Equally, if folk only knew what some of their older MK1/Mk2 steeds had ben through with multiple owners…but then at least with V069 looking for top book…we know.

Impossible, he’s dead! :joy:

Were they careful to choose a registration that doesn’t have an “H” in it?!

One careful stunt driver owner. Do you think they’ll fix the gear knob after that J turn?

Are you “H” ?

I suffer from chronic back pain but I actually find the ND quite comfortable, probably in part due to the fact it lacks lumber support and it’s seats with lumber support that press right where my disc is bulging, so bottom line is it depends on the individual and the cause of the pain…
