Tyre sizes for 8 x 15's

I recently bought a set of Rota RB’s for my Mk 1, size is 8 x 15.  Now I refuse to believe a 195/50 will fit a wheel that wide so I’m going to buy a set of new tyres also.  According to my calculations, I need a 205/50, 215/45 or 225/45 to keep the tyre diameter reasonably close to the original.

Any advice on which to go for?  Or something different I haven’t considered?

I’ve got a pair of 195s fitted on 8" wheels. They fit. They eve passed MOTs for what that’s worth.

Check with the tyre manufacture to see the maximum recommended wheel width (often published on their website). If they say not to fit a 195 to an 8" wheel then don’t (it’s borderline - some only recommend fitting on up to 7.5").

Of your listed sizes the 215/45R15 is the closest in diameter to the standard size. If you don’t like the thought of 195s on a wide wheel get the 215s. You’ll have more grip though, so make sure that’s what you want.
