UK drives book

May be of interest, found a book of interesting drives in the UK. Aimed at bikers but look good for a car drive. Called Bikers Britain by Simon Weir and only £4 from local remaindered bookshop. Local one is Rutland TT, and having driven part of this can agree is good. Could be a useful idea when planning UK holidays.

If you can’t find one in your local s/h bookshop you can find copies, new and used (but rarely as cheap!) on Amazon and eBay.

Thanks for that.  Have ordered from Amazon, £5.94 on Prime.

There is a dearer option at £10 odd which appears to be the older edition - the cover is a bit different but both are 208pp and spiral bound according to the description so I don’t think there can be much difference.

There’s now a second book, Biker’s Britain The Tours, also by Simon Weir & published by the AA last year.

The tours look interesting, but so far only had opportunity to use sections of them, sometimes in conjunction with routes from the first book. Easy with a bit of imagination to stitch together routes that are close together into a good circular drive.

Excellent resource and so far haven’t found anything similar apart from variations of Top 10 Driving Roads on different motoring related websites.

Thanks for the tip, just ordered one on ebay.

And online they have a great resource…

Have to agree that the Rutland TT route is a good one, having been responsible for the County’s roads until retiring at the end of August this year. Top Gear asked for permission to film using the section of road between Uppingham and Stockerston B664, which will be featured in the coming series.
