  4. HI i’m looking to Uniroyal rainsport 5 tyres to my car soon and would like to know if any fellow owners have tried then my car is used all year round
  5. any advice will be gratefully received

No idea. I have researched for the very best tyres in the rain given ‘A’ rating as just a starting point and Continental Premiumcontact 6 or 7 are the best I’ve found. But £450ish a set. I’m assuming the name has attracted you because you want good wet weather performance?

I bought a set of Rainsports at the beginning of March as advised to replace my ditch finders with these by Vincent (the car guru in Stradbroke). They hold the road brilliantly in both wet and dry conditions

I’ve had Rainsport5 on for the best part of a year and found them to be great, wet or dry.
I changed to these last autumn after sustained periods of light rain leaving noticeably slippery roads (I assume due to the rain not being heavy enough to clear build-up of surface silt, oil etc) and lost confidence in my Kumho PS71s with about 5mm of tread as I didn’t think they were handling it well. The Rainsports were a lot better. OK, it’s old tyre vs new tyre so not a true test but the improvement was very marked and gave me confidence again.
They may not be the best rated in the dry, but I don’t push to the limit and with the British weather it was the wet performance I bought them for.

I’ve never had any issues with them. My NC1 2.0 handles and grips like a dream.

I have them on my NC 3.5 and I can’t fault them.

I have them on my NA, they’re great tyres. I use them for general driving, navigational rallies in the winter, and for trackdays/motorsport if it’s wet. Hard to fault as an all-rounder!

Thank you all for your advice it looks like there thr tyres I’ll go for :+1:t2:

That’s fair enough, they are generally seen a a good tyre, reasonably priced.

I think in the UK, unless you are suicidal or tracking, dry performance is irrelevant for most of us.
I think for most of us wet weather performance is key. Ok, even in the balmy SW where I live there are exceptions like Bodmin/Dartmoor moors; but it is the exception that proves the rule.
The reason I buy into the best is in the extreme, stopping a meter earlier can be the difference between a near miss and a whole lot of expense. The extra £100 for the very best is just my take. It’s easy to take a different view as it’s one of those unlikely situations like not falling over an alpine precipice because you have a better tyre…..

Got them our NC took it round the Nurburgring in ‘damp’ conditions. Could not fault them
