Firstly your pics need hosting on a server. Photo bucket is fine.
Then find the web address (URL) for the pic. Easiest I find is to display the pic then right click it and choose properties (internet explorer) or view image info (firefox) depending on your browser.
Highlight and copy the adddress, it will start http://
In the message editor box click the icon with a green tree and paste the image web address - done - you can find and display any pic on the web using this method.
I have spent another fruitless hour trying to upload pics using your good knowledge but to no avail as i have no idea of the things you speak of.
I am fairly useless at computer stuff so im giving up the idea of posting pics on here.
Strange thing is i can upload pics of any sort to various other sites direct from ‘My Pictures’ very easily, all it takes is a couple of clicks & its done.
Some parts of this site do seem over complicated.
Thanks again for your help guys, much appreciated.
Yes this forum software is, to be frank, crap! We were effectively lumbered with it by a previous administration who knew nothing about forum software. I run some other forums using the free forum software and they all have the facility that you mention, and it works well. Downside is that the pics are not a permanent feature on the forum. They will after time be deleted from the forum gallery, I guess as a space saver. The advantage with Photobucket is that they are as permanent as anything gets in this modern world.
We have a new forum coming along in the not too distant future so maybe we will fare bettter there.
In the meantime if you would like me to post the pics for you, email them to me as attachments to geoff@verithingeoff.com
