USB/AUX SOCKET

  1. My model of MX-5 is: MK3.75 2.0 Sports Tech 2014_
  2. I’m based near: __Ramsgate
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __The USB/AUX sockets on my car are situated in the centre armrest recess, unfortunately, I tried to push a USB stick into the USB socket and the USB socket decided to come loose and its now been pushed inside the round holder that holds both the USB/AUX sockets. I’ve managed to remove the round socket from the armrest, I’ve taken it apart and the problem is that the USB socket has come loose from its solder points. I could probably get this repaired, but I just wondered if anyone knows if you can buy a new one.
    Many thanks Alan

Is this an aftermarket fitment I haven’t got this fitted on my NC 3.75?
Picture??

Hi, I don’t believe its an aftermarket item, the cigarette lighter and heated seat switches are on the centre consul, usual place, but the USB/AUX sockets are together in a round holder, the size of the cigarette lighter. Slide back the centre armrest lid and the small storage compartment, the one to the rear, holds the sockets in the rear of this compartment, I’ll try and get a photo.
Alan

Could be original then, yours have a navigation screen? It seems the aux socket isn’t in those models under the heater controls, so in the armrest cubby along with the usb?

Not fitted in my 3.75 either.

Yes, it does have a nav unit. I think I’ll probably try and get it professionally soldered, it just happens I will be visiting a computer repairer on Monday, I’ll ask them if they can repair the solders.
Many thanks to everyone, Alan

Just added this to my 2011 NC 3.5. Easy retro-fit and saves phone power cable from being stretched across the dash if you have a windscreen phone mount.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I’ll let everyone know my outcome. Alan

Must be a model-specific thing. The ones with Sanyo/TomTom nav have a bundle of connectors (USB and some RCA leads for a long-defunct iThing) in the glovebox.

Yes Mick, mine is also in the back of the centre console where the lid slides back.

Is that gaffer tape a Mazda part?

Absolutely! As is the cut-down cork sanding block it’s stuck to! :joy:
