Useful phone app if you're going abroad

I was on Facebook and noticed a thread about the various rules and regulations of European countries that we might travel through and their individual requirements.

The app is available for Android on Google Play and i-phones on your Apps button, and is simply called ‘Going Abroad’. It’s issued by the European Union and termed as ‘Road Safety rules in Europe’.

<<Use the European Road Safety App to find all important road safety rules before going abroad or while on the road in Europe. Entertain your passenger(s) with two fun games about road safety.

I can’t image what could possibly constitute a ‘fun game’ in the Euro Highway Code… I guess it would depend on your definition of fun!

Looks useful Steve, thanks for pointing it out.

Another useful app for foreign travel is the reasonably well known Google Translate. But what some folks don’t realise is it can translate in real time using your phones camera and you DON’T need to be connected to the Internet provided you download the language pack plugin for the country you’re going to.

So let’s say you’re in a Polish restaurant and you can’t understand the menu. Just launch Google Translate, select the camera option therein and point your camera at the menu. In real time your phone screen will display Polish words suddenly turning into English. It’s amazing to watch and helped us no end last Summer.

The translations aren’t 100% accurate, but they’re good enough to let you understand most things. And occassionally there’s a truly funny one.

Thanks I will give it a try
