Hi all, happy new year.
My mk1 lives in a garage over the winter and it’s not the most damp free environment.
I was thinking of adding some Wynns Dry Fuel to the tank to remove any moisture that might condensed in the tank.
Having done some reading it seems isopropyl alcohol 99% ( IPA ) does the same job.
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this.
Thanks

For a minute I thought you meant India Pale Ale there!
Happy New Year!

Now there’s a thought
Just a theory, but if you stored the car with a tank full of fuel, there wouldn’t be much space left for condensation to form?
Or Sta-bil
True up to a point.
Unfortunately - ethanol likes water and will draw it in through the fuel tank vent.
Best idea if storing is to fill with E5 fuel and use a fuel stabilizer.
Or perhaps it would be better to leave the minimum of fuel in the tank over the winter hibenation. Then, in the spring, whatever is in there can be swamped by filling the tank (before starting the engine again) with something like Shell V Power. Shake and stir and go for a good drive to clean out all the cobwebs.
Happy New Year!

Or he could just drive it.
Shocker eh?
If it likes water and absorbs it then E10 will give you a gallon of the stuff in a full tank and absorb any condensation?
Then I read that if water gets into a tankful of E10 it can cause layering of the ethanol and gasoline.
Best fill up your tank with E5, squeeze out the moist air and concentrate on your battery health instead(?)
