V16 Beacons Spain

Has anyone procured a V16 beacon for visiting Spain yet?

For foreign vehicles entering Spain, traditional warning triangles will still be accepted until a common EU standard is introduced, but the DGT is encouraging all drivers to adopt the new system as soon as possible for safety reasons."

“From 1 January 2026, V16 luminous beacons with geolocation connectivity will be mandatory for Spanish vehicles but foreign registered vehicles can continue to use warning triangles. Foreign vehicles can chose to carry the V16 beacons if they wish but the V16 devices must comply with specific standards set out by Spanish authorities, more information at www.dgt.es”.

Interesting thread, as wasn’t aware of this…..

Good idea though.

Plenty of these for sale at cheaper prices, BUT not sure all the V16 DGT comply off Amazon. :man_shrugging:

As they have to have the e-sim to transmit to the DGT when switched on.

They are moronic and very ineffective, Spanish people are pretty annoyed about them. It wouldn’t surprise me if the government scraps the whole thing at some point and go back to the way safer, practical and fit for purpose triangles.

Luckily foreign vehicles don’t need to carry them.

Anyway, where the hell are you going to fit a magnetically mounted beacon to an ND, where it is visible from all directions. Roof, either composite or fabric. Boot lid and bonnet made from aluminium, which you can’t reach from inside of the car anyway :frowning:

Might get one for the campervan though!
