Hi, is anyone aware of any LS engine conversions at have been completed in the UK?
I’ve searched but can’t find any?

V8 LS engines I know the conversion is very popular in the states but not sure if any have been completed over here.
Some one started a V8 engine swap into a 5 a couple of years ago, there was a lot said about on the forum.
I wouldn’t think so, that engine is too heavy when combined with the bigger gearbox and clutch not to mention bigger heavier brakes, plus you’d have to redo the suspension as well, so you are really talking about most of the car.
It might be better to make a V8 out of 2 bike engines like they do. That would be a lot lighter. But even better if someone did a light V6.

If the car was stripped overall weight at the end of the build would be similar to stock.
It’s already well documented on the US forums.
As you say a RPE V8 (2 hayabusa engines) would be good but that’s way over budget.
I just want to find out if anyone in the UK has completed this conversion.

There are a few in the U.K and one was for sale for a long time on Ebay, not sure if it sold or not. I have looked into this a little bit myself, the overall weight gain is minimal at only about 25-30 kilos. You can buy pre made subframes in from the U.S at around $1200 shipped that are made to accommodate an L.S engine.
I am at the moment looking at the possibilities of a Nissan Skyline straight 6 but it will probably be to long, the other choice is the later Mazda 6 cylinder unit turbo’d of course.

Thanks for the reply barneybear. Do you know of any project threads or links? I would have thought they would have been featured in a magazine or drawn enough attention at shows to have some write up on the web.

One of my fellow motor club members has fitted a V8, but I think from a Lexus-can e seen running here-

I sat next to a chap from Yorkshire (Duncan) at the 20th anniversary dinner. He had a TVR V8 engined 5 which he came to the rally in. I think he may be well known in the Yorkshire club area.
I’ve never heard about this, anyone know any more about the car?
The only other clues I have is that I think his name was Duncan North, a somewhat larger than life guy, he showed me a picture of car with a Fraggle strapped between the seats he had bought in Stratford that day (it’s amazing what you remember after a few glasses of wine and a great evening!!). He had converted the sidelight cluster into air intakes. He MUST be known in the east yorks area
