Vent rings not sticking

The vent rings I bought for my Mk1 are not really adhering very well - in fact, frankly, they’re falling off!

I did clean surfaces beforehand with white spirit, then used the supplied sticky things.  Should I perhaps use some better stuff?

Can anyone recommend a better way of fixing the rings?

You could rough up the plastic a little with some sandpaper? That would be the point of no return though!

Alternatively rather than using the sticky fixer pads, get some contact adhesive from screw fix or that type of shop. That stuff is soo sticky it’s deadly, once the parts touch there’s no moving or repositioning that’s for sure! You apply the glue to both parts and let it almost completely dry first, then stick them together.

Do not use White Spirit but Meths as it is alcohol based and will completely evaporate. The White Spirit is oil based and will not evaporate.

3M Double Sided Tape is what you need for this and many other jobs to do on your five…

Redo them with the Meths and try fitting again.

Will try that - thanks!
