There should be dozens of these around but I’m having trouble finding one. A low mileage (lowest possible but ideally sub 50k) 4.1 open diff. I’ll be changing side bearings and seals but need CWP to run perfectly with no ‘diff whine’.
I live in North Wales so would prefer something close enough to collect but, at a shade under 33kg, it could be couriered if anyone is prepared to pack it safely enough for transit. I can arrange shipping!

Cant find the discussion thread but I remember it saying :
All 5 speed MX5 NC had 4.1 diff
All 6 speed MX5 NC had 3.7 diff.
The 2.0 cars all got LSD
The 1.8 cars all got an open diff.

I think that was ‘most’ not ‘all’… Certainly SOME special edition 5spd got LSD and some of the 6 SPD got open… Not sure of which actual editions tripped the spec between open and LSD but yes, most 5spd were open 4.1 and most 6spd were LSD 3.9.
Im in North Wales with a 6 SPD + 3.9 LSD but find, in traffic, I want to drop to 1st but that’s a little TOO low so I end up groaning away in 2nd… At the other end, we only have ONE dual carriageway around here - the A55 that was built to take ferry traffic from M6 tho Holyhead so I get precious little benefit from using 6th instead of 5th.
My diff whines like crazy… So I have to swap it out anyway… So want a low mileage 4.1 that I can put the LSD out of my 3.9 Into… (I can do that… But don’t have the wherewithal to swap out the crown wheel and pinion - particularly, setting up pinion depth).
That will make 1st mainly just useable for getting moving from standing still… Then 2nd will actually work well for a crawler gear… And 6th a lot more useable… Most importantly though, torque through ALL the gears will be a lot better.
… everything will give me a much more ‘spirited drive’ through the twisty lanes around here!!
