Warning Buzzer

NBFL, 184Occ, “02” Would anybody know exactly where the “Lights On” warning buzzer is located when you open a door?

It’s part of the instrument cluster.

I thought it probably was, dont suppose you know of a link to an image of the cluster? I have an online manual and a Hardback copy - Nothing there.

Could probably take a photo for you. Are you looking to disable it?

What i would actually like to do, is connect a low powered mini flashing warning light. Happy to disable the buzzer if need be. The reason being is that I’m very deaf and cant hear it and seem to have a tendency to leaving the lights on!

I’ll try and get some photos for you although it might be integrated into the part that displays the mileage so there’ll be nothing to see. Won’t be until tomorrow or Thursday now though.

No problem and thanks for your help, have you got remote locking on yours. I have central locking but not remote but i have a paired remote receiver and transponder but cant work out where the cables go. Again nothing in either manual, only the central locking. Graham

Hhmm, as I thought, integrated into the mileage display. Not sure that you’ll be able to do much with that unless you’re handy with a soldering iron. I think it’s soldered top & bottom of R29. Plan B?

What do you mean about “where the cables go” with regards your keyless entry?

Plan B= Remember to turn the lights off! With regards to my keyless entry, maybe I should have said wires as in where do I connect the wires from my receiver to. I know the central locking module is behind the glove compartment so lm guessing the wires go there somewhere

I can tell you what wire does what but you’ll have to splice them into your existing wiring. I’ll have a look tomorrow or Saturday. What’s the last 6 numbers of your VIN?

I’m more than happy to splice into the existing wiring and the last six digits are 214576 Thanks Graham

Connections should be as follows.

Violet - Door lock timer unit terminal F. Terminal F is the one between a Red/Yellow wire and a Blue/Black wire, if there is a wire in there it should be Violet.

Black - Body ground.

Red/White - Trunk lid opener relay (you will not have this) and the Theft Deterrent Control Module terminal 2B. Corner of the large connector on the TDCM next to a Blue wire. The TDCM maybe under the shear-bolted PCM cover plate.

White/Red - Door switches. If you’ve got access to the TDCM, then you could splice this into the White/Red wire there. Should be on the same row as the Red/White wire but the other end, in between a Green/Orange wire and a blank space.

Black/Yellow - Ignition live. Should be protected by the METER fuse. From the Door Lock Timer Unit you could splice it into the Black/White wire, would be protected by the ENGINE fuse.

Blue/Red - 12 volt permanent feed should be protected by the ROOM fuse. From the door lock timer unit you could splice it into the Orange wire, would be protected by the D.LOCK fuse.

Let me know if you need anything else. I’m interested to know how you get on.

I’m going to try and let the above sink in! but first I’m going to remove the glovebox and take pics of the wiring thats behind it so I can relate it to what you have said and the wiring diagram in the manual. I knew about the boot because there isn’t a solenoid there and I’m not worried about it that much. I will keep you posted. Graham

Hi there, Sorry to be a nuisance but is this where the majority of the wires are to be connected to? I have a heat gun and shrink wrap to splice in. Graham

My references were for door lock timer unit and theft deterrent control module connections. The wires, or ones with the same function may or may not pass through that connector if they do there’s no reason not to make connections there.

Done and Thanks

I don’t suppose you photograpgh and/or documented your work did you? It would make an interesting How To guide in Soft Top Hardtop.

As it happens I did sort of, meaning that i have pics of before and after of the two modules with associated wiring, three sets of instructions one of which is mine and a coloured wiring diagram of the two modules as it wouldve been from the factory. Gave it a proper road test today, lots of shops, locking and unlocking etc without any problems. The boot isnt done yet but thats easy. Just fitted front DRLs as well recently, probably not legal but would only need to pop an inline fuse for the MOT!
