Water leak in passenger foot well

Hi,
After heavy rain I have a small amount of water on the rubber mat in the passenger foot well of my 2012 MX5
I’ve tried to find the leak and it seems to be coming from under the glove box.
Anyone else had this problem and how to fix?

Thanks

Search Scuttle grommet and all will be revealed

It’s coming in from under the windscreen cowl bottom. That black plastic strip at the foot of the screen, take it off and you will find the leaky grommets, it’s mainly the passenger side one but seal or replace both.

I would advocate getting rid of all traces of the biodegradable gasket and use sealant instead.
A new foam gasket will just fail again.

As above, sort it out ASAP! The water will run down the wiring loom and get into the fuse box. The water will then cause you electrical problems; anything from non functioning electrical components to making the starter motor run as you drive or the lights stay on.

As a very temporary fix, you can stop up the tiny drain hole that drains water from the well in the passenger side 9f the plastic scuttle cover. Guess where that water drains to.
Not a cure though.

Thanks all for the advise.
If anyone else has this problem or is looking at sorting it out before it starts I’ve just watch a great video on fixing it which you can find at the link below

Mine was a bit of a mess. Aquasteel was used to neutralise the surface rust
