Everything should be back to normal again.
Issue was caused by the Wordpress install that powers the main site having an issue with one of its plugins which results in a truly excessive number of files being created. It doesn’t fill the disk, but it does manage to occupy all of the ‘slots’ (inodes) available for files. So although there’s many gig free, the disk is effectively full which means that the web server isn’t able to work properly.
