Hi all
Keen to take a trip across channel to france over a long weekend. Any suggestions for nice routes from dieppe picking up nice villages etc and ideal the odd driving road with twisties?
Thanks
Hi Andy - how much driving do you want to do over the weekend and is there anywhere you’ve spotted that you’d like to aim for, from Dieppe?
Heading down to Rouen for example, you can pick up the D100 and then D3 south of Cleres which takes a forest route which is quite windy and MX-5 compatible
You could then continue to pick up D roads through forests mainly, heading for Le Mans if you wanted.
Cheers,
Steve
I’d plan to travel overnight Friday and arrive first thing Saturday return to ferry port around midday on a Monday. Driving wise at the moment I’ve considered around 4-5hours max on fastest roads from dieppe. That seems to give me a radius down as far as Loire valley or over to Brittany coast, with plan being to D road our way down stopping off etc and perhaps motorway back for our ferry
The journos and google seem to spend a lot of time focussed on the D940 which actually goes towards Calais but I’m not overly sold on this.
Currently looking at down towards and perhaps passed Le Mans so the above would work or go east check out Normandy beach or two … or bocage villages then onto saint malo for sat eve / sun before turning for home
I have been a long time user of an app called MyRoute-App which allows you to design routes on a PC, tablet or phone. (PC is better as you get a larger view of the maps). You can then use these routes in their navigation app which follows the route precisely or export GPX files for different satnav devices. It started out and was designed my motorcyclists for motorcyclists and as such the routes contain many twisties and great roads which are great for mx5’s to drive.
Anyway to get to the point, this app has a huge worldwide library of routes designed / recommended by users of the app. Just glancing at one around Dieppe I came across one (link below). When created by the MRA “Route Experts” they are well planned and documented. The level of details in the route is fantastic and worth a read for ideas even if you don’t use the route. You can explore the site for further routes. Be sure to scroll down below the picture!
