Weird aftermarket alarm sensor in boot

  1. My model of MX-5 is : MK2
  2. I’m based near: Ireland
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: This

So i’ve had this loose cable in my boot since i got the car back in september and it’s been driving me nuts, i eventually got round to cleaning the whole boot (well overdue it’s manky in here) and i finally found what it’s off. This out of place looking boot sensor.

I take it this is off the stupid aftermarket alarm i want to rip out under the bonnet? Going by the self tapping screws and rust around all the holes made, it really stands out. It’s been disconnected since i got it so i’m not worried about the alarm suddenly working upon removal, but have any of you guys seen this before?

Yeah, I’ve got one, my door used to lock/unlock and the alarm set/unset via the keyfob, then one day for no reason the alarm still works but not the lock/unlock via the key fob stopped working. I had always thought the boot wasn’t connected to the alarm system, then a few weeks ago heard my alarm going off - I’d not closed the boot properly and the wind had caught and lifted open the boot lid and set the alarm off -reason I thought it wasn’t alarmed is as I’ve had the boot opened a few times before when the alarm was set, but only for a minute or two, so might be a delay of some sort on the boot alarm?
