ME
You beat me to it, I was going to say me too!
G’day mate, you don’t need to call me sir, M’Lord will do
The pit, yep put to a lot of good use. I used to look after 3 landrovers and a whole pile of tractors using that facility. Here’s a pic showing it in use on an Eastern Region tech day

One of my ex’s had an inspection pit in her 3 car garage / workshop. I remember a few months after we split up I started to wonder if we were still on good enough terms that I could borrow the garage for a few days… As it turns out, NO we weren’t, Not by a long shot. I personally think the problem was that she dumped me and I didn’t turn into a jibbering wreck or try to kill myself… She interpreted this as meaning, “Obviously, He didn’t love me in the first place”. I think asking to use the garage somehow just proved to her that I was wilfully rubbing her nose in the fact I hadn’t become a crack addicted junky just to try and get over her.
Mind you, Sometimes, If I’m watching cold rain lashing down the window at night, I still think back to that time of my life, And often end up thinking “Dam, I miss that garage”
I still think an inspection pit was one of the most useful tools I’ve ever used !
Anyway, To try and get somewhere back on topic, I already said the BIGGEST thing carried in my '5 was 3 saplings, The strangest thing I once had to move was my sisters 2 cats from her ex’s house without a cat box, It was OK though, They both sat as far forward as they could in the passenger foot well. For the trip they seemed to kept themselves amused by holding a vomiting competition on the (Now replaced) floor mat… Maybe THAT’S the strangest thing I’ve transported then? Two large piles of cat vom !
A complete set of wheels and tyres, with the tyres not mounted on the wheels.
A full-size bike (with the roof up and everything closed, but without the wheels).
It sounds like you really miss that pit. Maybe you’ll get lucky one day and find a woman with her own hydraulic ramps…
That’s just too far fetched…
The worst thing i transported in the 5 was a cat, in a box and it some how managed to escape.
Luckily the roof was up and i spent 20 mins trying to get it back in the box. Never again…
