Wet MK1 Help?

Afternoon all,

I have been given a MK1, the car its self is clean and rot free. it had a new roof about 18 months ago and could probably do with a clean and reseal. This was fitted by Jack Smiths in Swansea.

How ever it seem to get a wet drivers foot well around the base of the steering wheel, has anybody any ideas on a location this could be coming from? or any way of testing it?

Probably blocked drain holes, or an outsider is tired seals.

One possibility specific to the driver’s footwell is a bracket which holds some relays under the dash above the pedals. It’s spot welded to the underside of the scuttle panel, and sometimes breaks off, tearing a small hole through the panel so rain can drip through.

If you lift the bonnet and check the flat panel area in front of the driver’s side wiper pivot, you’ll see a hole if that’s the cause.
