The way the central locking has developed a couple of glitches. First the drivers side lock actuator has given up the ghost - now the hazard lights don’t flash on and off.
If I forget where I’ve parked it after a night out I won’t be able to make the lights flash.
After 13 years of ownership the seating position is now annoying me. I think I’ve slightly damaged my ACL in my right knee and having to straddle the steering wheel in my NA with my long(ish) legs was causing me a bit of jip last night. Maybe I just need to get used to driving it again as I’ve done about 30 minutes in total since it has been out of hibernation. The 4+ hour trip to Oulton Park this weekend will tell me for sure
It’s a shame it has an airbag as a smaller wheel would probably help a fair bit but I’m not sure I want the MOT hassle of removing it.
To replace a broken window mech, first remove the glass by lowering the window to allow access the retainig screws. If you can’t lower the window, replace the window mech. To replace a broken wimdow mech first …
The fact my upper back doesn’t fit into the seat properly. I’m not particularly big, but I feel like my shoulders in particular are on the seatback, not in it.
Central door locking has failed on drivers side, and on my previous California, failed on passenger door.
Inability to fold in door mirrors electrically. I have just 2cm clearance each side when reversing into or out of my garage. Folding the mirrors in increases the clearance by a significant amount, but they are stiff, and can only be folded by getting out of the car
Retract mirrors, drive in forward, taking care to keep a straight line parallel with garage walls. When backing out, don’t steer - keep wheels dead straight. Works for me.
Part of the problem if reversing into the garage is that it is an uphill slope, and the sight lines are not good. The other problem lies with the garage door mechanism, it is a one piece up and over door with springs etc. that take up valuable width. I have found that by going in forwards, but stopping just short of the actual door opening, then folding the mirrors in, I have sufficient clearance. Likewise when exiting the garage, again stopping just before the opening and folding in the mirrors, I have better clearance. Its just a pain to do it every time.
On mine the girt-big springs do not quite intrude on the opening but sit beside it and behind the frame. The lowest tip of the pivoted-up arm when door is open is an inch above the top of the mirror and intrudes by less than an inch, but I’m lucky I never need squeeze that close to the frame!
