Lion is Ecp,s own brand .very much a bargain basement product.I would stick with something like Bosch,Exide ,Varta or Yuasa.
With regard to the Lion Battery. I have one fitted to my MK2, it came with the car. 1st one lasted about 30 months before giving up and would no longer hold a charge. ECP replaced it without any problem and the replacement is now a year old. The battery for the MK2 is a different size and much more expensive if I remember rightly. I wouldn’t buy this brand again.
Yuasa YBX 5000 seems to be the recommended replacement battery for the MK3.
YBX5053
Now this is cheap…
Careful when buying from eurocarparts their website will tell you the wrong battery.
You need a size 158 not 063 and not 156.
063 is for a bottom mounting clamp and 156 has the wrong terminal size.
I bought a Bosch S4 type 158 from eurocarparts and it has been fine.
Delete - duplicate post - no idea why…

From France!
As with many things on ECP, the Bosch S4 158 is cheaper on its sister site carparts4less.
Just now, £105.99 on ECP, and £71.28 on CP4L.
I think there might be a weekend sale on CP4L so price could change quickly.

Yes - its a little country about 20 miles across the channel - can’t really miss it:-)
More than a tenner cheaper than British stock if not in a rush.

I bought a YBX5053 from MBS via ebay a few months ago for my NC. It was a vast improvement. Some pics in the link below to show what I did

^^^ I fitted the exact battery (Yuasa) shown above when mine was showing signs of failing, fits as said perfectly.
hi
sorry been away from home a couple of day
wow. thanks for all the replies
muchly helpful
Thanks for the link.
Battery ordered on the 24th and arrived by Royal Mail yesterday, that is what you call service. Car turns over much much quicker and starts with very little effort now.
Regards Pete
Moot now you’ve ordered the battery but I got the same one (Yuasa YBX5053) - fitted in 5. Car starts faster and pulls harder. Old battery was definitely on its way out and this new one has been a goodun so far!
