They are not plastic, the inside of them might be but the outer skin is mohair the same as the hood.
I have a habit of forgetting they are on and it doesn’t go well when i yank the hood up and they go flying every where, not a pretty sight having to retrieve them at the traffic lights while other cars are wanting you to MOVE!

They look good though.

Woah, just looked at the price now, mine were free due to an e-bay cock up, they should have been around £40.

No, that’s not them. Its a hard plastic cover that completely covers the soft top when it is down… They can be painted the colour of the car…

I know what you mean, the plastic cover with the two bulges behind the roll bars?

Yes that’s it, what are they called ??..

I cant see any on Ebay ?..

Not a common item and prohibively expensive new.

This on on ebay but for MK1 - it may be possible to convert for MK2.

Why don’t you just fit the usual Vinyl Tonneau? - readily available and very cheap.

Right, that’s a bit different from what I was looking for, the ones I am after are like that but they have much larger bumps on them and they come in 2 parts… ??.

This is a very old MX5 Parts picture, i very much doubt they still do or have access to them now. Related image
