What does "lowering kit" (by dealer on new MX5 nc) mean?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ NC / Mk 3 (61 plate)
  2. I’m based near: __ Manchester
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ “Lower kit” on vehicle (from new)

Hi folks,

Like many here, I’ve come to the wonderful world of MX5’s by buying a second hand one (in our case, a 61 plate NC. Looking at the original invoice, it is a 2 litre “Sport Black”

The vehicle is lowered (and the original dealer invoice shows a charge of £312) for “lower kit”.

Can anyone suggest what this very vague “lower kit” might actually involve? I know it lowers the car, but I’m curious about whether there is a known brand of kit dealers use for these lowering kits. Is it just different springs? or shock absorbers? or … ?

(Loving the car, by the way!)

Nick

It will be lowering springs that have been fitted to the original shocks.

Welcome to The Forum.
Had my Sport Black for nearly 10 years and it’s still a joy to drive👍🏻

Thank you. And yes, the car is an absolute joy to drive. Tremendous fun!

Nice to see another cyclist here, too (always fancied a Wilier …)

This is my old 2007 Wilier Mortirolo, which I raced up Alpe d’Huez in 2008.
A lot out of date now, but still in the garage as a back up to my others…:+1:

I used to ride for Condor Cycles years ago, i too have a large collection of bikes… All bar one are steel the other is posh plastic. lol.

Nice bike others? I’m on a Trek Emonda SL6 with Hunt wheels. I’m faster on that than I am in my NC………only joking

Nice bike and great wheels.
My current is a Colnago C64 with Campagnolo EPS drive train and the Bora Ultra Aero wheels.
You can never have enough carbon fibre……

A beauty! And is that your second bike so to speak? I’m on holiday in Sennen, Cornwall and have brought my steel Temple Adventure. I’m on the look out for a Colnago Tecnos, seems hard to find in 58/59 cm. Love bikes as much as MX5 life.

Yes it is.
Great hills around Sennen👍.
A few 56’s around, but you will hopefully drop lucky with a 58.
