What else could go wrong?!

hi all,

had an expensive shock the other day- my rear passenger side coils have snapped on my 17 year MK1.  Have decided to plug for Gaz coil overs and change them all, as they have never been changed and are the originals, so it wasn’t entirely surprising that one had snapped, and probably only a matter of time until they all go.

My question is… (and I appreciate this may be one of those ‘how long is a piece of string?’ questions)…

What else could potentially go wrong that would be as prohibitively expensive? The car has been serviced fairly regularly, with new brake pads last autumn.  The car is hopefully going in next week to get the coil overs fitted (at WIM- great place!) but I wanted your advice in maybe asking them to check, whilst the car is on ramps, what looks dodgy and potentially needing fixing/replacing that will be very expensive, just so I can at least budget for it over the next few months.

Thanks for all your help!

Common thing is rear calipers - handbrake operation siezes up. Not too expensive, and fairly straight-forward to replace for the average DIY mechanic.
Otherwise they’re fairly good! - just keep it serviced!
