Took a stepped drill bit to the side of the ashtray so as the ipod cable can pass into it which it does brilliantly and means I no longer have to lift it out and replace it to get it connected!
Ā MOT straight pass Ā Ā Not bad for a 21 year old car.
Head lights were a little high but the tester adjusted them down (no charge). Brakes looked lovely an balanced on the gauges, emmisions really good. I had bought some top & bottom swivel boots in anticipation of having to change them but they were ok with just some surface cracking, so saved me a job. No doubtĀ I will use them one day though.
Over the last two days Iāve done a proper clean and wax. That will probably be it now with the hosepipe ban coming up in April. Fortunately I have lots of QD handy.
Drove home from work in the fog with the roof downā¦
Why?
Because i can
Ā Had it serviced, put it into local Mazda dealership and got service book stamped, yes I know why didnāt I do it myself , with oil from the engine, gearbox and diff to dispose of and wanting a stamp in my service book went for the dealer, just under Ā£200 lighter in my wallet but there you go sheās worth it
. Itāll not stop me from doing intermediate services but Iāll still go back to the dealer now and again for the service book stamp. MoT coming up at the end of the month so a good time to go for it. Dealership was Tyne Mills Mazda and they couldnāt have been more helpful even had the patience to listen to me telling them how to do their job and 10% off for being a member of the MX5OC so Ā£20 more than pays for half of my membership sub
, now I must get sorted with this photo bucket thing and get some pictures up!, P.S. Diff oil was as clear as a bell no bits of broken metal so releived after all the reports Iād heard, must make sure the back axle is not put on a rolling road for the MoT test
popped in a pair of osram nightbreaker plus bulbs, drivers side ok, Pax side a bl**dy
nightmare, take out the wheel arch liner to change a bulb !!!Ā whos idea was that.?
but a bit better lightingā¦Ā
I did mine from above, same as drivers side.
Took forever and my wrist and hand looked like a self harmers!!
I do have girlie small hands but it was one hell of a squeeze! Stupid Mazda design!!
Quite a few manufacturers make this a real issue! I think on a MK3 the main dealers are instructed to take of the bumper & remove the light unit to do it! I had a similar issue when I had a MKIV Golf GTI, bumper off, unit out job, only it had headlight washers to contend with too! Just as well you donāt seem to need to replace them as often as we used to have to do when āHalogenā bulbs were new tech! The works Octavia is a doddle though, undo a screw, pull a leaver and the whole light unit comes out
Found out that the genuine front foglights that Iād fitted fell within a VOSA recall. So our local dealer obtained the relevant spring clips and after 20 minutes under the wheel arches all is now good again.
Picked mine up from the garage. Been without it a week, painful experience. Been in for MOT & the naff old suspension replaced with MK2.5 units along with new ARB drop links. Passed nicely after having the caliper slider pins cleaned up (binding on both front brakes) with no advisories. Super chuffed! Rides so much nicer too. Really looking forward to my first summer with it.
Fitted the new heavier gauge tensioner springs and refitted the tensioning straps that I forgot to do last year when I put the hard top on!Ā
Quick check over the car this morning before getting the MOT done, another pass!
Front brakes are getting a bit low and the inner face of the discs is starting to look a bit worse for wear. Thankfully MX5Parts have brake kits on sale this week , so thatāll be my job at Easter.
Just changed the gear lever seals, the guide on here is great
Installed the new dash surround.
Ā
I also installed a Nielex short shifter kit, but as Iām going to modify the gaitor and do something different there, Iāll leave pics of that for another day.
Very nice One of these days i will find one of those that doesn`t involve taking out a second mortgage to buy it!
Ā At Long, Longā¦Long Last in a county Far, Far away i bought my 5.
1992 1.6 s special. imported 2003, same family owned until today.
Thank F⦠for that!
Fitted my style bars sourced from mx 5 parts looks great plus finally manged to change all the spark plugs, bruised knckles and plasters but it runs really sweet after the oil change last week!Ā
Just need to learn how to insert picture now
Fitted Aluminium Vent and Hazard rings, pedals, handbrake and gear knob. Ā Fitted the gaiter and armrest cover set, and chrome heater controls. Ā Then I swithed the wheels over. taking the winters off and putting the summers on Ā While I had the centre console out I painted the gear surround and centre trim to match the aluminium trim.
Ā
I am knackerd! Decided to give the 5 a proper clean before the hose pipe ban comes in. Jacked up each side, wheels off and cleaned, wheel arches cleaned and polished and plastic dressed, then all put back, car cleaned and polished, roof cleaned and protected, tyres dressed and interior cleaned out. 3 hours but worth it!
Fitted my new exhaust on saturday which looks and sounds awesome its a custom made 3"inch de-catted 1 pieceĀ
very happy with the outcome
I put a picture of my baby in my avatar
