What have you done to your MX-5 today? (Part 1)

Just picked her up from having her calipers painted at Hot Wheels in Brierley Hill West Midlands. Richard made a good job of them much better than I could and to be honest it seemed easier to let someone else spend the time doing it than me! Pleased with th results

I’m thinking of having mine done too. Any pics of yours available?

Cheers

Barry

Fitted my new front brake pads and fitting kit.

Fitted LED bulbs in numberplate, sidelights, interior and boot light.

Took off front numberplate and mount - looks so good, wish we didn’t have to have the front one…

General finger mark and flies removal ready for a trip to Cadwell park tomorrow ,Vintage sports car meeting. Not been to Cadwell for years and it will be one of the few times I will have paid to get in ! Used to pit crew for a couple of guys back in the 70’s

Admired the piece of art created by my car and the rain what do you reckon marks out of ten please

It is clearly a thing of beauty and deserves nothing short of 10/10

Did a 3 mile round trip in it today. The most satisfying drive this year, well nearly. That’s how far it is to the MOT station, it passed.

Looking good Steve

Get yourself over to Bingley for a Detailing session!!

My son Chris had his next lesson as a mechanic , but also to show how easy these cars are to work on .

After doing the front brake pads the other week ( see earlier post ) it was time to change the nearside track rod end .

All ready hopefully for the MOT next week .

Rear wheels came off today. Attempting to refurb my very kerbed alloys ourselves!

(Also just to let you guys know, my daughters boyfriend is doing a lot of the work now so you’ll probably hear from him on here…through my account. He’s called Mark  )

Took the MX5 to meet its new stable-mate, a soul red Mazda 3.

After the twenty-year-old Vectra prematurely ate its relatively recent cam-belt we’ve been looking for a replacement ‘shopping trolley’ all this week, and after sitting in lots of different makes for finding the correct size of car, and doing lots of research and checking ownership costs, and then test driving various Focuses and Astras new and old turbo and normal, and for various reasons not really liking them enough to begin haggling, we finally got around to sitting in a Mazda 3 while waiting for the MX5 MOT. Test drove the new Mazda3 today and SWMBO was totally sold and so was I; it is so much better than those others in so many ways, smoother, quieter, more flexible, more comfortable with decent thickness tyres for our rough roads, and I don’t care if it does a few less mpg, that 2 litre engine is superb. And amazingly this particular one was a lot cheaper for the high spec of equipment.

Happy.

went to look at a 09 plate 2 litre sport…was not clean enough for me.
called to view the new ND icon…but 21k is out of my budget…
so back home and gave the 5 a good polish.

comes up nice , everytime…

Bought some leather seats off e bay and fitted them = brilliant

Took her to Beaulieu Japanese Day and had a grand day, made better by winning the use of a Mk4 for 48 hours and a tank of petrol courtesy of Hendy Mazda, Eastleigh. Hope to use it for the Donington Rally.

Fitted new cluch slave cylinder after being towed 30 miles back home.

Picked up my ND Sport Nav from the dealers after having a new hood fitted.

Not today but had my new wheels put on Friday for the fast Car Festival  over the weekend.

Drove the “bride” to mariage blessing in next village, then had the priviledge of escorting her down the aisle

After the ceremony haded the keys to “groom” for return journey  They eventually came back with the ususal silly grin on their faces and the usual “I want one too” coment

Frog

Did exactly the same this morning, SEPY PASSED HER MOT NO ADVISORIES EITHER

I took mine to a Main dealer for a Part X valuation against a Mark 4. On the way down to the dealership, I was shunted in the rear end. Boy was I gutted, as the car is mint.

To make matters worse, and discounting the damage, the Part X price was abysmal. Looks like another new rear bumper on the insurance, and I will keep the car for a while longer.

On the plus side, I got to test drive a Mark 4 1.5 SE. Maybe some day!
